His albums are holistic creations, made to take his listeners to fantastical journeys. They are evocative in imageries, as Paul Kwo strives to create worlds of life within his music.

Paul Kwo's music is also in the now and the present. His improv are in the present, reaching from his soul now, to the souls of his listeners. Paul Kwo's improvs are unpretentious, revealing to his audience his truth, his sincerity and his love. Whether it is his most beautiful and charming of albums, or his most experimental and abstract of track, Paul Kwo always attain a certain immediacy in his music that comes directly from his heart and soul.

This is the way Paul Kwo hears music. What you hear is absolute honest truth of his mind. They are fresh in the moment, and will always be fresh. His music even after the fifth, tenth or many times over listens, still retains a sense of freshness and unpredictability as he always allowed the music to organically unfold its own beauty to reveal itself to the world.

Born in Hong Kong, Paul Kwo moved to Los Angeles at the age of eight, where he pursued his passion for music and theatre beginning at an early age. Upon graduating Cum Laude from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor’s of Music in Piano Performance, Paul went on to graduate USC with a Master’s of Music in Composition. In 2006, he was recognized as most outstanding graduate of the university’s Composition Department.

As a composer, Paul’s piece Nanking 1937– received the Jimmy McHugh Composition Prize. The piece also placed among the top seven at the New York Youth Symphony’s 2006 Music Competition. Musically, Paul Kwo has performed under the batons of Stanislaw Skrowaczewski, Larry Livingston, Robert Reynolds, Carl St. Clair, Shelly Berg, Don Crockett and Timothy Su, and alongside Yo-Yo Ma and Chinese singer Wei Wei. Paul is very active as a pianist and master teacher in ­Southern California. Paul also performs regular Internet concerts drawing large international ­audiences each week.
